Segment-Wise Cold Storage Solutions

Each product is different in cold storage. Milk needs a fast pull-down, bananas need a controlled ripening environment, pharma needs GDP-aligned compliance and seafood needs freezing fast enough to preserve texture. Singhania Refrigeration designs and manufactures cold rooms, blast freezers, ripening chambers and CA stores to suit the specific product, temperature, humidity and handling requirements of your industry - not a generic cold room bent to fit.

Overview

What Is a Segment-Wise Cold Storage Solution?

A segment-wise cold storage solution is a cold room, blast freezer, ripening chamber or controlled-atmosphere (CA) store designed around the product it will contain as part of our cold chain solutions across India, rather than a standard refrigeration shell. Depending on what you are storing - dairy, pharmaceuticals, fresh produce or frozen seafood - the temperature range, humidity control, airflow, racking, door type and even panel grade will vary.

Singhania Refrigeration designs each facility around your product profile and process flow first, then selects the refrigeration system, panels, doors and controls that match it. You end up with a cool room that works the way your product actually needs it to, not a one-size-fits-all build that overcools some zones and undercools others.

By Industry

Cold Storage Solutions by Industry Segment

Singhania Refrigeration has designed and built cold storage and refrigeration systems in the following industry segments. Each has its own temperature, humidity and handling requirements - here is how we approach these:

Ice cream and milk products cold storageDairy Cold Chain

Ice Cream & Milk Products

Cold storage and freezing of dairy products is continuous, therefore the refrigeration system is sized according to actual usage and production load, not based on fixed capacity.

  • Rack-type refrigeration system that adapts to varying loads, sized according to volumes of product being processed
  • Designed for fast temperature pull-down when receiving incoming milk and dairy supplies
  • Constructed with environmentally safe, dairy-grade materials that are CFC-free
Banana ripening chamber cold storageRipening Chamber

Banana Ripening

The process of ripening is a controlled, active process instead of a passive one; therefore, all aspects (temperature, humidity, ethylene and CO2) must operate in unison according to a predetermined schedule.

  • Ripening chambers with airtight seals and custom doors
  • High CFM indoor unit suited for high-humidity indoor locations
  • Web browser interface to monitor temperature, humidity, ethylene and carbon dioxide
  • Available in Manual, Partially Automatic and Fully Automatic ripening system options
Pharma cold room with compliant temperature controlGDP Aligned

Pharma

Compliance and product safety are an important factor for pharmaceutical cold storage, possibly more so than typical low-temperature storage. Every pharmaceutical cold storage facility is designed and constructed to standards that adhere to Good Distribution Practices (GDP). Standard features include:

  • Pharmaceutical-grade, CFC-free polyurethane foam (PUF) insulated construction
  • Thermal insulation materials and chute systems that eliminate cargo exposure during loading/unloading
  • Adequately sized, custom water chiller packages based on individual customer load calculations
Meat processing blast freezer and cold storageBlast Freezing

Meat Processing

Meats and poultry need a rapid temperature drop immediately off the line, then consistent freeze storage with food-grade surfaces throughout.

  • High-efficiency refrigeration units designed for low power consumption
  • Food-grade panels throughout
  • Blast freezers for quick product pull-down
  • Pre-cooling chambers and cold storage facilities
Hospitality cold room for hotels restaurants and cateringKitchen Storage

Hospitality

Because many different types of businesses use a single facility (hotels, restaurants, catering), the cold store needs to offer flexibility, cleanliness, efficiency and ease of use for staff working there every day.

  • Stores raw and cooked products, freezer and shelf-stable items, fruits/vegetables, meat/poultry/dairy, and kitchen waste
  • Suitable for use by all staff
  • Energy-efficient and designed to function at peak performance
Blast freezer and IQF facilityIQF Lines

Blast Freezers & IQF Facilities

To minimise the development of large ice crystals, seafood, peas, corn and cut fruit should be frozen quickly. This is accomplished through individual quick freeze (IQF) and blast freezing methods.

  • Ideal for seafood
  • Compatible with pea and corn processing lines
  • Cut fruit and vegetable IQF processing
Seafood and fisheries cold storage facilitySeafood Chain

Sea Food & Fisheries

Seafood needs a very short shelf life; therefore, every part of the supply chain - from the time the fish are caught until they reach refrigerated storage - is designed to be as fast and safe as possible.

  • CFC-free, food-grade PUF panels
  • Blast freezers for fast catch-to-process turnaround
  • Pre-cooling chambers
  • Cold storage facilities
Warehousing and logistics cold room racking3PL Storage

Warehousing & Logistics

For 3PL/distribution facilities, the priority is to maximise usable storage density while minimising the impact on airflow and temperature uniformity to racked loads.

  • Double-deep or drive-in racking for logistics/warehouse layouts
  • High CFM and variable-load compressor rack systems depending on use case
Pack house and multipurpose cold storagePack House

Pack House & Multi-Purpose

Pack houses offer the complete range of activities required for produce distribution - from receiving produce at the facility, through pre-cooling, packing and grading, to dispatch.

  • Pre-cool, pack and grade
  • Dedicated washing area plus multiple cold store facilities for various produce
  • Reliable, easy-to-use machinery
  • Long-life stainless steel chassis
Floriculture cold storage for cut flowersFlower Storage

Floriculture

The priority with cut flowers and indoor plants that have a long shelf life is to slow down their respiration and moisture loss until they reach the market in good shape. This is accomplished by:

  • Reducing the respiration rate through lower temperatures and relative humidity, and slowing enzyme breakdown after harvest
  • Minimising moisture loss and wilting, and limiting disease growth
  • Creating time for appropriate handling, packaging and sales
Agro products cold storageAgro Storage

Agro Products

Grains, legumes and other crops need humidity and temperature controlled for long-term storage at affordable running costs.

  • Humidity and temperature controlled over long-term storage periods
  • CFC-free, energy-efficient panels
  • Lower energy use per hour
Horticulture cold storage for fruits and vegetablesFresh Produce

Horticulture

Fruit and vegetables are stored using temperature control, but other factors - such as the surrounding atmosphere - also play an essential role in preserving fruits and vegetables in a condition as close to their natural state as possible post-harvest.

  • Ambient-specific cold rooms
  • Atmosphere simulating natural conditions, with appropriate humidity
  • Designed to support produce health, preservation and consistent quality
Transport refrigeration products for cold chain logisticsTransport Cooling

Transport Refrigeration Products

Transport refrigeration ensures products remain at safe temperatures between point A and point B. Key features include:

  • Compact design for dependability and reliability, especially in extreme climates
  • Low fuel usage and quieter operation
  • Lower maintenance cost and less CO2 produced per mile travelled
Controlled atmosphere CA storage for apples and fruitsCA Solution

Controlled Atmosphere (CA) Solution

To preserve apples and other fruits for a long time, it is important to manage oxygen levels together with temperature, since both slow the metabolic rate of produce and the rate at which it spoils.

  • CA (Controlled Atmosphere) storage technology creates the internal environment needed to preserve produce
  • Combines lower temperatures and controlled oxygen levels to slow the metabolism of fresh produce and extend shelf life
Why Segment-Specific

Why Choose Segment-Specific Design Over a One-Size-Fits-All Cold Room?

Equipment failure is not what causes most cold storage problems. Most issues trace back to a cold storage room designed to the wrong product specifications from day one - design to your product's actual specifications, and you avoid these problems going forward.

Right-Sized for Your Product

Airflow, humidity management and refrigeration capacity are determined based on what you are actually storing, rather than a general load assumption.

Lower Running Cost

A cool room sized and managed for the correct product uses fewer compressors, which is reflected directly in your electricity cost.

Less Spoilage, Less Shrinkage

One of the most frequent causes of post-harvest and stock loss is holding product in the wrong humidity or temperature range.

Compliance Built In Where It Matters

Pharma, food-export and FSSAI-regulated segments get the building, oversight and documentation they need from day one.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

It means the cold room, blast freezer, ripening chamber or CA store is designed around the specific product it will hold - temperature range, humidity, airflow, panel grade and racking are all matched to that product category, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach to storage.

Yes, with the proper zoning. We design multi-temperature facilities with separate zones built to the requirements of their own segment, so different product categories can share one site without compromise.

A normal cold room controls temperature, and generally humidity. A Controlled Atmosphere (CA) store also controls oxygen and CO2 levels in the chamber, slowing the metabolism of fruits such as apples and extending shelf life much longer than temperature control alone can achieve.

Yes. The pharma segment uses CFC-free, pharma-grade PUF panel construction with monitoring and chiller packages built for cold chain requirements aligned with GDP.

Ripening is an active process, not passive storage - it requires airtight chambers and web-based monitoring of temperature, humidity, ethylene and CO2 together, with manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic control depending on throughput.

Yes, often. Depending on the existing panel grade, refrigeration capacity and door configuration, we can assess whether a facility can be adapted for a different segment, or whether it requires a fuller refit.

Yes. Our Annual Maintenance Contracts are structured according to your segment facility - covering the refrigeration, controls and monitoring relevant to whether you are running a pharma cold room, a blast-freezer line or a CA store.

We have built for dairy and ice cream, pharma, meat and seafood processing, hospitality, blast-freezing and IQF lines, warehousing and logistics, pack houses, floriculture, agro products, horticulture, transport refrigeration, and controlled-atmosphere storage - to name a few.
